Learn the Thai alphabet by playing
Thai has 44 consonants, more than 30 vowel symbols and four tone marks, and it writes them without spaces between words. Charts do not stick. Reacting to a falling character does.

Three things trip up beginners. First, the sheer number of letters: several consonants share a sound, so ท, ธ and ฒ all give you a th. Second, vowels are not written in a line — they sit before, after, above or below the consonant, and some wrap around it, so ไ comes before the consonant you say first. Third, tone is not written directly. It falls out of the consonant's class, the tone mark, and whether the syllable ends in a stop.
The tractable part: the consonants come with built-in mnemonics. Every letter has an acrophonic name — ก is ko kai, "ko as in chicken"; ข is kho khai, "kho as in egg". Thai children learn the letters as a chant of these names, and so should you. Script Fall speaks each name out loud when you catch the letter, so the name attaches itself to the shape without flashcards.
Consonant classes decide the tone
Thai consonants split into three classes: mid, high and low. The class of the initial consonant plus the tone mark plus the syllable's ending decides which of the five tones you say. This is why memorising the letters as a flat list stalls out — the class is part of the letter. Start with the mid and high letters that appear everywhere (ก ด ต บ ป อ, then ข ผ ฝ ถ ส ห), and let the rarer ones arrive later.

Typing Thai
On iPhone, add the Thai keyboard in Settings › General › Keyboard › Keyboards › Add New Keyboard › Thai, then switch with the globe key. On Windows or macOS, add Thai (Kedmanee); it is the layout printed on keyboards in Thailand. Thai needs no conversion step — the key you press is the character you get, so typing practice is pure recall. Vowel and tone marks can be typed on their own, and the games display them on a dotted circle (◌ิ) the way a dictionary does.

Where to start
Play Fire Force at level 1 with hints on. It starts with 18 common consonants and adds the rest as you clear levels. When the letters feel automatic, turn hints off; when you can read them faster than the game throws them, switch to spoken mode and say each one instead.
