Today's challenge
One run a day. The date picks the game and seeds everything in it, so the challenge you play is character for character the same one everybody else played today.

An ordinary leaderboard compares runs that were never alike: different levels, different characters, different luck. The daily board compares one run against the same run. If you beat somebody by four hundred points, you beat them at exactly the thing they were doing.
How the day is fixed
The date, in UTC, becomes a number; that number picks which of the twenty-five games you play and seeds every random draw inside it. Where things spawn, which characters appear, what order they come in — all of it follows from the date, so it is identical everywhere in the world and turns over at the same instant for everyone. Your language, your hints and your 8-bit setting are still your own.
Play it as often as you like
Every attempt counts, and your best of the day is the one that stands. A single shot would only mean fewer people on the board, and the board is the point: today everybody is playing the same run. Picking today's game from the games list starts the challenge too — while it is the game of the day, that is what it is. The next challenge arrives at midnight in New York.
